Miss Universe New Zealand 2010 contestants arrive in Wellington

These are a few quick cellphone snapshots from the fun today at Miss Universe New Zealand 2010, made during the shooting of the official photographs at the Museum Hotel. Jin Cowan photographed the official images, and the contestants were posing for them in these shots.

Contestants began arriving Saturday, with the bulk of them having to be present by 3 p.m. today (Sunday) for their fittings with Goodness, newly opened in College Street, Wellington. The above images were taken just after 6 p.m., before the official dinner at the Museum Hotel’s Hippopotamus restaurant and bar. Over dinner, I gave them a pep talk on what we judges expect, and the sacrifices the winner would be expected to make.

As with previous years, the photographs on the site and on our judging forms are not indicative of the contestants at all. I predict a very tough judging session this week.

Three former contestants have returned: Zeisha Frémaux, whom I met at the 2007 pageant; and Rosie de Malmanche and Kirsty Pritchard from 2009. They will have strong rivalry from their 10 rivals from around the country.

The events begin in earnest in Wellington on Monday morning.I’ll live-Tweet with the hashtag #missnz, and most Tweets will feature at Lucire’s Twitter account, Lucire.

Miss Nicaragua 2010, Scharllette Allen returns to her hometown, Bluefields.








Scharllette who is the first black Miss Nicaragua will compete in Miss Universe 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 23rd.

Last night, the Miss SVG 2010 finals took place at Carnival City, Victoria Park in Kingstown.

Winner was 19-year-old Aphesha Tricia Sophia Matthews. She will represent St. Vincent & the Grenadines in the Miss Carival 2010 pageant this July.

Keshtjella Pepshi was crowned Miss Kosovo Universe 2010 (Miss Kosova 2010) at the Finale held on May 29th. Keshtjella Pepshi is 22 year old and stands 5′10”. She will represent Kosovo in Miss Universe 2010 pageant in Las Vegas this August.
Interestingly, Keshtjella Pepshi competed in the Miss Bern 2010 this May and advanced into the Finalists.

Romania wins Miss Bikini International 2010


SANYA - Miss Bikini International 2010 took place at the Beauty Crown Stadium, in Sanya, China, and the winner was .

The runner-ups, who received seasons' titles, were: Australia (Spring), Venezuela (Summer), China (Fall), and Latvia (winter).

The semi-finalists were Greece, Kenya, Bulgaria, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Spain and Kazakhstan.

Diana Irina Boanca of Romania crowned Miss Bikini International 2010

Diana Irina Boanca of Romania was crowned Miss Bikini International 2010 at the Finale held last night at the coastal resort of Sanya, in south China’s Hainan Province. Diana Irina Boanca is the winner of the 35th Miss Bikini International World Final. She is 22 year old and currently a senior college student in Romania.
“I am so excited that I do not know what to say. All the contestants are very strong and I must say I am so lucky to win,” Boanca said after being crowned.
The four runners-up who are equal in rank are Australia (First Spring Lady), Venezuela (First Summer Lady), China (First Autumn Lady), and Latvia (First Winter Lady).

Beata Polakowska will represent Poland at Miss Earth 2010 in Vietnam this November.

24 year old Beata Polakowska is a beautiful Environmental Studies student of the University of Białymstoku and will now compete at Miss Earth 2010 pageant in Vietnam.

“I am terribly happy and I feel good about this new title and the fact that the pageant is associated to ecology which I currently studying” – said Beata.

At the Miss Earth pageant each contestant are expected to talk about environmental protection in their country and Beata is already planning her lecture.

“I would like to talk about my country’s flora and fauna because it is unique from the rest of the world” – she stresses.

Beata is no stranger to pageants. In 2009 she entered Miss Polonia Woj. Podlaskiego and placed 2nd runner up and advances to the national pageant Miss Polonia and ended up among the Top 5 finalists and awarded Miss Internet.
